Dental phobia keeps many people from receiving the oral care they need to stay healthy. This may have gone on for decades in some cases. Due to patient anxiety about dentistry, the experienced dentists and dental team at Willow Dental offer sedation dentistry so all patients can receive the care they need.
Sedation dentistry allows you to undergo any dental procedures you need while you are sedated. You may not remember any of the grogginess or details of your dental procedure because of the sedatives used. We hope to add you to our group of patients who have overcome their dental anxiety through sedation dentistry.
Willow Dental offers sedation in gas (nitrous oxide), pill, and intravenously to our patients. Once you have decided that you would like sedation dentistry, and we have identified you as a candidate, we will decide which type of sedation is best for you.
Nitrous oxide is the most common form of sedation. Commonly known as “laughing gas,” you are put into a state of conscious sedation so you are still able to communicate with us during your procedure. If you are a candidate for oral sedation, you will be given a pill when you come to the office. Intravenous sedation puts you into “twilight sleep.” You will be able to follow our commands, but you will not remember your dental procedure at all.
Due to the post-sedation effects of taking a pill, like Valium, or an intravenous drug, you will need to have someone drive you home after your dental procedure.
Candidates for sedation dentistry include patients who:
Sedation dentistry is available for both our general dental patients, as well as those who come to us for cosmetic dental procedures.
