Orthodontic braces can be made out of stainless steel, ceramic or plastic brackets. They can also be gold-plated. These brackets are bonded to your teeth and connected with a wire. These are the traditional type of braces that most people are familiar with.
Braces can fix a range of issues, including overbites, underbites, crossbites, crowded teeth and more. In short, braces work through the application of pressure over a period of time in order to slowly move and shift the teeth in the desired direction.
At Willow Dental, we begin by taking impressions of your teeth, photos, and X-rays. From there, we will determine the best treatment plan based on your unique needs. This will give us insight into how long you will need to wear your braces. On average, most people have their braces for one to three years.
Every month, you’ll visit our dental office for an adjustment. This ensures that your braces are applying just the right amount of tension and pressure. We typically have patients wear a retainer for the first six months and then only at night once the braces are removed.
